Good Prognosis For Mongolian Khan

This year’s G1 Australian Derby and G1 Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan (Aus) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) is in good shape following a colic scare earlier this month and will race again, trainer Murray Baker told Racing.com. The 4-year-old was ruled out of the G1 Melbourne Cup Nov. 3 after suffering a bout of colic the week before the race, and Baker revealed he is set for a spell at his base in New Zealand before returning to training.

“If we get him back to New Zealand and get him into the paddock for a while…it’s a couple of weeks before he can travel back,” Murray told Racing.com’s RSN. “Give him a break, and hopefully get him up for the autumn. If not the autumn, then we wait for next spring.”
